Cabinets like these would have only been accessed from removable panels on the top. Drawers were quite rare in early Chinese design so this piece is a more contemporary version of a classic Ming style, the three drawers at the top providing extra storage, with the spaces behind the fixed panels either side of the doors being accessible, with a single removable shelf inside. Made from reclaimed elm wood with brass hardware.
