Description
Gansu, circa 1880
This grand cabinet boasts a generous amount of space and is made with rich walnut wood from Gansu, a western province in China. Its unique design embodies the style of Gansu furniture, which was once abundant in the region. Originally, only two doors were included, but the sides have been opened and a shelf added during restoration for added practicality. The thick frames of the cabinet, sculpted in a distinctive 'deer hoof' pattern, extend into the top and provide a sturdy base. After undergoing sympathetic restoration and finishing, the gorgeous natural tones of the walnut wood shine through. With a width of nearly two meters, this cabinet makes a statement and offers ample storage space.
