I’m delighted to update you on a new bag that the V&A have collaborated exclusively on with THE REVIVAL (launching this week). The bag (available in two sizes, small £55 and large £90) is made from denim rescued from landfill, beachesand Kantamanto, the largest second-hand clothing market in West Africa.
THE REVIVAL is a community-led, non-profit organization creating awareness, art, and jobs with upcycled global textile waste coming from the West to Ghana. This project gives new life to fabric which would otherwise be discarded.
Do let me know if you would like to speak with THE REVIVAL founders (more information below), require further comment or images.
Many thanks,

ABOUT THE REVIVAL
Founded in 2018, by Yayra Agbofah and Kwamena Dadzie Boison, THE REVIVAL is a community-led nonprofit organization creating awareness, art, and jobs with upcycled global textile waste coming from the West to Ghana.
The illegal dumping and burning of tons of low-quality clothes from the Global North in Ghana is polluting air, soil and water at an alarming pace. In collaboration with the general public, artists and artisans, THE REVIVAL collects and repurposes discarded garments from landfills, local beaches and Kantamanto, the largest second-hand clothing market in West Africa.
The Revival’s designs include stylish protective workgear which can be spotted on the backs of ‘Okada boys’, Ghana’s commercial motobikers as well as local pineapple farmers.
Since its inception, THE REVIVAL has sparked industry, media, academic and diplomatic interest from the BBC, The Sunday Times, TEDx, Yale School of Public Health, Central Saint Martins, Centre for Sustainable Fashion, The British High Commission in Ghana, and more.
THE REVIVAL’s work is extensively featured in the 2022 leading industry report from the Eileen Fisher Foundation & Pentatonic, ‘Fashion’s Waste Crisis and How to Solve it’.
