Help birds build a home in spring - and discover more about our feathered friends - with this brilliantly designed kit that's ideal for kids aged six and over.
Inside the drawstring jute bag you'll find a recycled-plastic cage which young ornithologists can stuff with pieces of the insulating sheep's wool, plus foraged moss, twigs, hay - anything that birds would naturally choose as building materials, and half a coconut shell to fill with water as a bird bath or trough.
Use the jute string to tie the cage up on a branch, then watch for visiting birds and use the nine nest identification cards and illustrated guide to help you figure out who could be using what to line their different-style nests.
Outside of the breeding season the cage can be used as a bird feeding station - simply fill with fat balls and watch for young fledglings leaving the cosy homes you helped to build.
Ethically made from materials including natural jute and card certified as sustainable by the Forest Stewardship Council, the kit is assembled in The Den Kit Company workshop in Shropshire and is a great way to encourage children to learn more about their garden neighbours.
