Bogányi piano opens up a new grand piano universe. A rare combination of modern-day technology that respects and enhances 150 years of tradition.
World-renowned Hungarian concert pianist Gergely Boganyi had a lifelong dream to add beauty and sound to the traditional grand piano design, that was already over 150 years old. After he had played on one of Franz List’s old pianos, the smooth, round sound fascinated him. He then teamed up with Hungarian industrial designer Peter Uveges to disrupt the shape and sound.
The free-flowing form without the 3rd leg, allows the sound to travel more directly ‘like hovering in a cloud of sound”, for the artist. This outer rim design is made from a carbon fibre composite. The soundboard is too, so it handles dust, humidity and temperature variations, in a much more stable manner. than the traditional spruce wood used. The carbon fibre centre plate, replaces traditional cast iron and saves around 200kg in weight.
The Boganyi piano was designed for a richer, rounder sound. The carbon fibre composite soundboard, combined with a more open, free-flowing design, creates a new sound sensation. It is unique and distinctly Boganyi, for the discerning buyer.
