We choose to work with natural, recycled and reclaimed materials for our pieces. Jute is a great natural material that we love to use as it is a rain-fed crop that has little need for fertiliser or pesticides. It is a natural vegetable fibre that can be spun into strong and durable threads. These baskets are made on pit looms, an age-old technique where artisans work with looms fitted into pits. Seated at ground level, they manipulate pedals to weave natural materials into individual designs. This method allows for precise control and intricate patterns, showcasing the skill and tradition embedded in each handmade piece.
