'Hit The North' real cork wallpaper by The Monkey Puzzle Tree shown in the boot room of this Georgian townhouse in Islington.
Photography: Heidi Marfitt
The award winning 'Hit the North' cork wallpaper is the result of an exciting collaboration with graphic artist Drew Millward. Best known for designing psychedelic posters for rock bands such as Foo Fighters and Arctic Monkeys, Drew was commissioned to create a Modernist-inspired cork wallpaper celebrating the creativity and industry of the north of England.
Drew's work is heavily influenced by the post-industrial landscape surrounding his home in West Yorkshire, and this can be seen in the bold, monochromatic design featuring
factory buildings, hills and circular, sun-like motifs. Drew’s trademark skulls, black cats and owls can also be spotted lurking within this intricate design.
Printed onto sustainable Portuguese cork, 'Hit The North' is an innovative juxtaposition of graphic art with a natural material, and as such it has been awarded the prestigious Design Guild Mark for 2020/2021.
