Description
Four irregular stonewear side plates of vibrant assorted colours - all inspired by Henri Matisse's depictions of Nice.

See through the eyes of a master artist: through a window to a view lost to time. From his thin hotel room at the Hôtel Mediterranée in Nice, Matisse saw the bay of beautiful blue: the French Riviera in December.

Matisse was spellbound by the Cote d'Azur. Many times he stated when he realised he could see this light every morning, he couldn't believe his luck. Matisse made the seaport city his home every winter from that point on, and the surroundings found their way into his work. That soft light of the winter sun and the rich, deep colour of the sea enraptured him. Through the bright colours and the lapping brushwork here, that spirit that stirred Matisse remains.

In winter, JJ brightens up cheese and wine courses with these plates, evoking the same light Matisse loved. In summer they are in constant use, a weekend favourite. These are dishwasher safe, but not suitable for the microwave.
