Description
Our Bagha kilim rug features a geometric pattern of stripes and diamonds all neatly framed within a red border and finished with fringing at either end. The origins of kilims range from Balkan regions through to Northern Africa, which is what makes them complementary to so many design styles. Kilims differ from knotted rugs as they are interwoven from variously coloured wefts (horizontal yarns) and warps (vertical yarns) to create a flatwoven tapestry rug with no pile. They often have stepped, diagonal patterns which are formed through their distinct weaving technique in which the yarn turns around the warp where the colour changes, rather than running across the full width of the piece and they’re known for their vibrant colours and geometric patterns. The stripes and diamonds on the Bagha feature soft gradients of colour, celebrating the yarn dying process.
