Ten years ago, founders Katy and Peter Hawes were living on just £35 a week.

Facing financial hardship, Katy, who had been raised around antiques and auctions,

spotted an opportunity. She began restoring and selling vintage sofas from their

home—a move that, within months, saw them selling 30 to 40 sofas a week.

Recognising a gap in the market for beautifully designed, high-quality sofas with

character, Katy took her favourite vintage styles to a local manufacturer and

reimagined them for a modern audience. The result? Vintage Sofa Co., a company

now turning over more than £6 million annually, with a loyal UK-wide customer base

and a thriving team of 25.
