About
Copperfish is an award winning family business, based in Co. Wicklow, Ireland, that creates beautiful lighting from salvaged and storm-fallen timber selected for its character and provenance. Each piece is unique and comes with a card telling the history of the timber used to make it.
Established in 2016 by Eoin Shanley, the seeds for the business were sown during the restoration of a 200-year-old thatched cottage a few years earlier. Following conservation best practices, Eoin and his wife Yvonne used local, traditional and salvaged materials to lovingly and painstakingly restore the cottage acquiring skills and knowledge along the way.
When they found it difficult to find lighting that they liked, Eoin started to make his own using materials he had to hand. Very quickly he started to get requests from friends and family and soon after, Copperfish was born.
Copperfish lamps and lights are now sold in leading design and interior stores in Ireland. In 2019 Copperfish was one of 5 brands selected to represented the Irish Design Council of Ireland at New York’s Shoppe Object event and in 2020 Copperfish was shortlisted in the UK Gift of the Year awards. Copperfish has been a member of the Irish Design and Crafts Council since 2017 and has been selected for Design Ireland every year since 2018.
Every piece continues to be designed and made by hand in Co. Wicklow using time honoured skills and the finest materials.

Irish lighting brand Copperfish launches new collection
Copperfish Lighting will launch its new “Liberties” lighting collection at Showcase, Ireland’s creative expo taking place from the 22nd-24th of January at the RDS, Dublin.
The Liberties collection comprises a family of floor, table and wall lights blending modern design with traditional inspiration.
The Liberties is an old bustling district that sprung up outside Dublin's old city walls. For hundreds of years, an independent-minded community of merchants, brewers and distillers have thrived here.
The base of the Liberties lamps is made from old beams reclaimed from a building in the Liberties area of Dublin. The long bulb with meandering filament sits within a copper pipe that borrows from the distillers and brewers that have been at the heart of the Liberties for hundreds of years.
Maker and designer Eoin Shanley said “Every lamp we make is inspired by a story and that is usually the origin of my designs. This Collection uses the reclaimed timber from the Liberties as the starting point and then the copper connects back to the brewing industry which was and still is such a huge part of that area of Dublin”.
The collection comprises four lamps made by hand in Copperfish’s workshop in Rathnew in Co. Wicklow; a floor lamp standing over 155cm in height retailing at €625, a small table lamp retailing at €345, a statement wall light which extends to 100cms high and retails for €575 and a smaller wall sconce retailing at €275.
Copperfish will be at stand C39 in the DCCI area of Showcase taking place in the RDS in Dublin from the 22nd-24th of January.
Each lamp is unique and the colour and finish of the materials used will vary from lamp to lamp. All Copperfish lamps are made by hand using time honoured skills and the finest materials in our workshop in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow.
Lamps will be available to purchase online at www.copperfish.ie or can be seen in Copperfish’s showroom in Rathnew, Co. Wicklow. All of our lamps are made from reclaimed or salvaged timber and packaged in sustainable cardboard packaging with environmentally friendly LED bulbs.
Copperfish ships worldwide.

About Copperfish
Copperfish is a small family business based in Co. Wicklow in Ireland that specialises in lamps and lighting handcrafted from ancient timber.
Run by founder and maker Eoin Shanley and his wife Yvonne, the seeds for the business began during their restoration of a 200-year-old thatched cottage. While Yvonne researched conservation and sustainable materials, Eoin began working with old and reclaimed wood under the tutelage of a former coach builder and master joiner.
Later, when the project was near completion and frustrated with the selection of lamps and lighting available, Eoin reverted to some of the skills he'd learnt to make his own lamps and lighting using old timber and copper piping. He very quickly started to get requests from friends and family and soon after, Copperfish was born.
Copperfish lamps and lights are now sold in leading design and interior stores in Ireland. In 2019 Copperfish was one of 5 brands selected to represent the Irish Design Council of Ireland at New York’s Shoppe Object event and in 2020 Copperfish was shortlisted in the UK Gift awards. Copperfish was shortlisted in the Irish Country Magazine home awards 2021 and awarded the “Highly Commended” award at Showcase 2022 Best Product Awards.
Every piece continues to be designed and made by hand in Co. Wicklow using beautiful old timber selected for its provenance and character.
Copperfish has been selected as part of Design Ireland, the Irish Design Council's selection of the best of Irish Design every year since 2017
Copperfish lamps have become objects of desire for discriminating householders and interior designers and architects.
Copperfish will be at stand C39 in the DCCI area of Showcase taking place in the RDS in Dublin from the 22nd-24th of January.
