Introducing The XOU Introducing The XOU – an eco table lamp, designed and manufactured in London. The XOU table lamp, designed by Volume for houseof, mixes forward-thinking design and manufacturing. We used high-tech manufacturing and eco-materials to create a truly conscious table lamp. The XOU launches July 13th 2022, priced at £209. Responsible Design The XOU table lamp combines high-tech manufacturing and eco materials to create a truly conscious table lamp, designed and made in London. The lamps aesthetic is playful modernism with an edge of impeccable elegance. It will add an undertone of sophistication to interiors and is available in two colours: charcoal and teal. Truly Conscious The base of the lamp is made from 2 carefully selected materials that cross-section each other. A unique composite material developed by Volume is made from solvent-free gypsum and recycled post-consumer plastic waste to create an exclusive terrazzo design. The second cross-section is 3D printed and made from bio plastic, naturally sourced from sugar cane and is biodegradable. At the end of the product's lifetime the customer can return the lamp to houseof and they will receive 20% of their next purchase for up to 10 years. Houseof x Volume has worked with a dream team of partners who are artisans and crafts people to help bring the XOU to life: Batchworks, a 3D design and manufacturing studio based in East London. They use digital manufacturing technology to develop sustainable alternatives to current wasteful methods of mass manufacture. Daniela Rubino, an East London artist and alumni of Central St Martins has made the Terrazzo base from her studio in Walthamstow. Light Fixation, founded by Ian and Madeleine Hawes in 2015. Light Fixation specialises in restoring and repurposing lighting components and products into usable fittings. Helen White, co-founder of Houseof says we are committed to working with brands that can create and craft beautiful products that put sustainability at the top of the design agenda. We feel very honoured to work with a brilliant group of collaborators to bring XOU to fruition. Callie Tedder Hares, founding partner and creative director, comments, The XOU light represents the power of what can be achieved through collaboration....a collective of small business and craftspeople putting their heads together to make beautiful, meaningful, responsible design. link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQWtU9IcA3Y
