The Story Behind Rebecca Plater

Visual Artist Launches Conscious Homeware Brand

Rebecca Plater is a conscious creator and visual artist based in Scotland, with a newly launched collection of hand-painted and hand-made organic homewares and ceramics.

Following a background of working for an international interior designer and later gaining an MA in illustration at Cambridge School of Art, Rebecca has mastered how to adopt these influences to bring her daily artistic design work to life.

The Story Behind The Brand

Rebecca spends extended periods outside in the natural world foraging and observing natures intelligence and interconnectedness. Her observations of patterns, colours and light inspire her to create watercolour mark-making brush strokes through a playful process.

From those mark-making processes Rebecca begins to see organic, playful, abstract shapes appearing, which she then arranges into patterns. These imaginative patterns are then brought to life into designs.

From the founder Rebecca Plater

It was important to me during the design process to create products that were practical and responsible to the health of people and planet. As well as being aesthetically pleasing, items that would bring people joy in the everyday task within their home.

I'm a conscious creator and an advocate for positive luxury and buying better. Inspiring change and sustainability within the homewares industry are at the heart of my business, influenced and led by my own connection to nature.

Our Core Values

By committing to choosing organic or natural fabrics for our printed designs, we are making our contribution as a small business towards people and the planet. Organic Cotton is grown pesticide and chemical free, making it a safer choice for farmers, workers as well as you your loved ones and your home.

By choosing hand-made processes for our organic products or entirely hand-built ceramics, within the UK, we are preserving the artistry and traditional techniques passed through the generations. Each unique piece enshrines the story, soul, skill and patience of the creator.

We offer educational workshops and mentoring in holistic and artistic practices to our community. We use recyclable or plant to grow packaging and stationery.

Looking Ahead

We hope to grow into more eco-conscious practices and charitable ventures as we develop as a business. We acknowledge that there is always more to learn and growth to fulfil.

New designs for homewares, and ceramics which have been requested by our community are already in the making: such as Everhot Hob Covers and more.

Rebecca's recently launched organic fabric by the metre is now available. She is also in the process of launching a new wallpaper project.
