Must Have Kitchen Trends for 2025

As we approach 2025, Molly Chandler, Kitchen Designer at Willis & Stone, gives us her thoughts on the trends and must-haves for the heart of the home. From cutting-edge technology to stunning tactile features, the kitchens of the future are set to redefine both homes and lifestyles.

Embracing the Dark Side

Recently there has been a growing trend of customers opting for darker palettes, including black, in their kitchen designs. Whether it’s a bold kitchen with dark cabinetry or a mix of lighter cabinets paired with a striking black island, this shift marks a departure from the lighter tones that have dominated in recent years.

Perfect Pantries

When it comes to ‘must-haves’ for a new kitchen, the pantry is now as sought after as the kitchen island. Whether it’s in the form of a pantry cabinet or a full-on walk-in pantry, these are often high on customer’s wish-lists.

Walk-in pantries allow the homeowner to keep the main kitchen more clutter-free, as they provide handy storage space. Some may also include room for food prep and can include worksurface space for small appliances such as toasters and bread makers. All of these benefits help to keep the main kitchen looking clean and organised, making it a more enjoyable space to use. A well designed pantry is also a desirable feature for many future homebuyers and can therefore boost the market appeal and resale value of the home.

Textural Appeal

From fluted panels and doors to reeded glass-fronted cabinets, there’s a clear trend towards incorporating more texture into kitchen design. Adding textural elements is an excellent way to highlight the natural beauty of materials such as wood grain, stone veining or metal patinas, creating a layered look that feels vibrant and sophisticated. Textures also introduce contrast between surfaces, helping key features stand out for example, a textured panel can beautifully accentuate smooth countertops or sleek cabinetry.

Waterfall splashbacks

Bold marble and marble-effect worktops are highly sought after, providing a beautifully striking feature in a kitchen. To further accentuate this, customers are now choosing to carry the same material onto the wall for use as their splashback. This method eliminates visual breaks, so the result is a very clean, harmonious look, which is both practical and stylish.

The Beauty of Brass

Brass features are very on trend for 2025 and add a touch of luxury to all styles of kitchen, from modern-industrial to farmhouse. The easiest way to incorporate it is through cabinet pulls or knobs, which make a huge difference to the overall look of a kitchen design. Brass can also be introduced through taps, lighting, accessories or through choosing appliances with brass accents. This timeless and versatile material complements both neutrals and bold colours and its golden tones create a cosy, inviting atmosphere.

Smart Technology

Smart technology continues to develop for the whole home and the kitchen is certainly no exception. From state-of-the-art ovens that automatically adjust temperature and cooking times for perfect results, to smart refrigerators that suggest recipes based on their contents and notify you when you're out of milk, the demand for tech-savvy kitchens is on the rise. Popular customer requests, such as concealed charging stations, Quooker instant hot water taps, integrated sound systems and lighting that adapts to the time of day, are quickly becoming staples in today’s modern kitchens. Designed with convenience in mind, these innovations streamline daily tasks, reduce waste and elevate the overall functionality of the kitchen.
