MEET THE ARTIST



There’s a lot that makes our Studio Collection special, but at the beating heart of it is our resident artist’s hands. Meet Aaron Hammond. With a background in tile design, he’s been creating his own for 12 years, spending the last four running his own hand painted tile studio. In tandem with our Head of Creative Grazzie, they’ll be designing micro collection after micro collection, coming up with concepts and stories together before Aaron’s hand turns them into a marriage of classic techniques and modern making methods.

CONSTANT CURATION

Just like with every tile under the Ca’ Pietra casa roof, the Studio Collection designs are the result of relentless eyeballing over what’s going down in the world of fashion, the global luxury hotel game, pouring over art history and architectural tomes, and drawing inspiration from design details over the eras. “We lap up the lot, we put them into our very own mixing pot,” says Grazzie, “From it we come out with designs that are completely and utterly unique to us, our world and your home. We care about designing firsts, originals – our own lens, always.”

ARTISANAL, AND THEN SOME

The design story behind the Studio Collection isn’t just a case of being created by a UK artist and formed in our Wiltshire studio, but a number of them are hand-painted, like Jamboree. The whole collection is fired in Britain too, keeping it as close to home as can be. “The Studio Collection is all about artistry and we knew that feeling of the arts had to be carried through in every sense. The art in the artisanal side of these tiles is one of its greatest traits,” continued Grazzie.

There are four collections launching between October and the end of the year – that’s all part of the thrill of the Studio Collection: British production and constant curation means limited edition collections will be hitting hard and fast.
