Fermoie is delighted to be working with leading Italian interiors house Zafferano to produce a special capsule lampshade collection for the iconic Poldina Pro cordless lamp.


For the new collection, Fermoie is creating petite versions of its hand-gathered lampshades to fit over the fixed Poldina shade. The selected designs are Popple, a small pattern of waves made up of tiny ripples, curves and texture inspired by ancient mosaics, and Wicker, a lattice design reminiscent of basketwork. Both designs are offered in five colourways from the Fermoie palette.


Like all Fermoie lampshades, the new editions are entirely handmade in the company’s workshops in Wiltshire, England. They’re made from lightweight 100% sheer linen, with an off-white cotton balloon lining and tonal coloured borders top and bottom.

Made in cast aluminium, the Poldina Pro cordless lamp has taken America by storm, with Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart among its celebrity enthusiasts. Available in bright, bold colours including Sand, Dark Green, White and Sage, as well as polished Silver and Gold finishes, the Poldina Pro provides over nine hours of cordless illumination, with a ‘one tap and it’s on’ and touch-dimming functions. Charging is via a neat induction charging pad.

About Fermoie

Fermoie is a creator of fine fabrics, lampshades and accessories all designed and manufactured entirely in-house using its own proprietary colour-mixing and production techniques. Every Fermoie design begins with the drawn line, with the full repeat pattern meticulously created by hand, on paper, before it’s translated to screen engraving. Every colour is individually created, mixed and edited in-house according to our carefully considered palette and artistic principles. Customers can be confident that any chosen combination will match perfectly, ensuring aesthetic harmony, artistic balance and design integrity.


All cloth is exclusive to Fermoie and made to the company’s specification, in line with its founding environmental commitments.

Pure linen is woven to the studio team’s specification from highly sustainable flax grown locally to the mill. Cottons, union cloths and linen sheers are produced in England. Launched in 2024, its Indoor-Outdoor fabrics are woven in Lancashire, England from 100% recycled plastic bottles and are made without PFCs, PFAS and other harmful ‘forever chemicals’.


Fermoie was established in 2010 by Farrow & Ball founders Tom Helme and Martin Ephson. It now employs over 50 people at its design studio, production facility and showroom in Marlborough, Wiltshire and showroom and retail space in Pimlico Road, London, where cushions and lampshades are also available for purchase. The company received the King’s Award for Enterprise (International Trade) in 2024, with Fermoie fabrics available worldwide thorough selected retailer partners.
