Since its launch in 2023, the Gustavian Collection has been adored by customers, press and the French Bedroom team. Designed by our in-house team, we are excited to have launched the collection in a deep, rich tone, that leans into the season’s love of brown.

The Gustavian Dark Collection embodies nostalgia, timelessness and charm, conveying a sense of decadence and splendour in each hand-carved piece.

Paying homage to the late eighteenth-century Swedish twist on French neoclassism, the collection combines the key elements of Gustavian style furniture, combining distinctive shapes, fluted legs and beaded detailing.

The Gustavian Dark Collection showcases the perfect balance of warming and smart aesthetics, with a nod to the natural world with its earthy hues, natural grain and acorn finials.

The collection features six key pieces, with further items planned for launch next season.

Gustavian Dark Low Footboard Upholstered Bed

The key piece of the collection, The Gustavian Dark Low Footboard Upholstered Bed is the epitome of quiet luxury. The solid ash wood frame is finished with a rich and dark stain and serves as the perfect backdrop for the mushroom-toned linen upholstered headboard. Available in Double, King, Super King and Large Emperor.

Gustavian Dark Bedside Cabinet

Boasting both beauty and practicality, the Gustavian Dark Bedside Cabinet is perfectly sized to sit at each side of the bed without feeling obtrusive. Behind the two doors you will find an internal shelf, ideal for storing your trinkets and bedtime reading, while the drawer below acts as a great space for storing medications or spare eyewear. To the top is a hidden pull-out shell, allowing extra surface space for holding your morning paper or mug of coffee. 

Gustavian Dark Writing Desk

Ideal as both a writing desk or dressing table, the Gustavian Dark Writing Desk has ample drawer space for storing stationery and paper, while the functional lock and tasselled key keeps documents safe. Pair with the matching upholstered chair for the perfect home office setup.

Gustavian Dark Upholstered Chair

The perfect accompaniment to the writing desk, the Gustavian Dark Upholstered Chair sits beautifully in home offices, dressing rooms and dining rooms alike. Set upon a solid oak frame, the cushion pad is upholstered with the same mushroom toned linen as the bed, ensuring full harmony between each piece in the collection.

Gustavian Dark Chest of Drawers

With three large drawers, the Gustavian Dark Chest of Drawers provides plenteous space for storing lofty clothes or bedlinens, while the exquisite hand-carved detailing creates a stylish silhouette. Each drawer features horizontal fluting, a pair of gold metal pulls and a decorative escutcheon plate. The top of the drawers is finished with a delicate beading – no detail has been spared with this design.

Gustavian Dark Mirror

The finishing touch to any bedroom, the Gustavian Dark Mirror hangs beautifully above the matching chest of drawers, or with the writing desk to transform it into a dressing table. Featuring stepped corners and two rows of intricate beading, this mirror is a subtle blend of masculine and feminine forms.
