Charley Chau is a small British business founded by two crazy dog ladies, sisters Christine and Jenny Chau in 2010, inspired by thei gang of Italian Greyhounds. They specialise in designing luxury dog beds that are super-comfy, stylish and made to perform over time.
When the sisters sat on the sitting room floor one afternoon in 2010, hand-sewing a Snuggle Bed for Charley and Anna, they had no idea that it would lead to founding Charley Chau. They posted photos on Facebook of what is now their signature Charley Chau Snuggle Bed, and were inundated with requests. That's how Charley Chau was born. No shiny business strategy, no big shiny plan – just a quirky little hobby, born out of love for their dogs, that they thought might be good fun in their spare time.
Now 14 years on from that fateful afternoon on the sitting room floor, and their ‘accidental' business now has customers in over sixty countries around the world. The brand's customers vary from ordinary dog folk to baronesses and billionaires, but they all have one thing in common – they want the absolute best for their dogs and that’s why they buy a Charley Chau.
Charley Chau doesn't design or make for any other brand. Unlike most companies selling dog bedding (including many that position themselves as "luxury"), they don't outsource design and production to a mass manufacturer that makes the same old dog beds for multiple different brands with different fabric on the outside. The sisters are nerds. An awful lot of thinking goes into designing Charley Chau's dog beds to ensure that they are genuinely comfortable and made to stand the test of time.
Charley Chau is a proud supporter of British manufacturing, and accredited by Made in Britain. Firstly, they're a British brand and we want to support other British businesses, but making in Britain is also how they maintain the highest standards in the quality of their beds and blankets. All Charley Chau fabric-based beds and blankets are made in England with love.
