When it comes to our tap water in the UK, it’s no longer just a matter of taste. As discussions around cleanliness and quality continue, now is the perfect moment to reconsider our approach. A recent YouGov study commissioned by GROHE has unveiled some compelling insights:
- 1 in 3 people in the UK hesitate to drink their local tap water due to taste and concerns about chemical residues.
- Despite this, over 60% of the UK has shifted away from purchasing plastic water bottles, highlighting a strong move towards sustainability.
- Surprisingly, 9% of respondents are already using filtered water for showering or bathing, showing an increasing preference for purity in daily routines.
- Additionally, nearly half of those under 24 (49%) opt for filtered water in their kettles and coffee machines, indicating a rising trend towards cleaner hydration habits.
These findings shed light on why consumers are rethinking their sink setups, driven by concerns over taste and quality, as well as a growing awareness of environmental issues like plastic pollution. This dual motivation reflects a broader societal shift towards conscious consumption and sustainability practices.
Lewis Neathey, Leader, Product Management, LIXIL EMENA & GROHE UK, notes, “Humble fittings like the kitchen tap and sink are taking on a renewed sense of purpose, evolving into versatile ‘all-rounders’ due to their significant role in kitchen activities. Modern, multifunctional designs are now widely available, meeting renewed demands and enhancing user convenience.”
