About The Campaign for Wool
The Campaign for Wool is a not-for-profit international organisation that aims to raise awareness amongst consumers about the unique and sustainable properties of wool as a natural fibre, as well as promoting the many ways and products in which it can be used. The initiative was first conceived by His Majesty King Charles III in 2008, when he was the Prince of Wales, and then formally launched to consumers in 2010. As a serious environmentalist, His Majesty believes the natural, renewable origin and highly technical structure of wool offers fashion and interiors many superior benefits. .
In the UK alone, the Campaign for Wool has the support of farmers and many designers, brands, retailers, manufacturers and innovators spanning a host of finished product sectors including fashion, lifestyle interiors as well as a host of other applications and innovations. Choosing wool helps to protect the planet through the reduction in man-made fibres that ultimately go into landfill and the ocean and will help to safeguard the planet for future generations. Wool not only biodegrades in soil, adding nutrients back to the earth, but it also biodegrades in the ocean and water and therefore wool does not impact the planet with microfibre and plastic pollution.
The Campaign for Wool is jointly funded by some of the world's largest woolgrower organisations. Key nation partners include British Wool, Australian Wool Innovation/The Woolmark Company, Cape Wools South Africa and Campaign for Wool New Zealand. All have shown incredible support and contributed to the global success of the King's Campaign for Wool since its inception.
