The Coronation is just a week away but accessories designer Rory Hutton has been busily employed designing commemorative scarves since the end of 2022.

The designer renowned for his collections of luxurious silk scarves and bold linoprints has built his reputation while collaborating with many of the UK’s most beloved cultural and heritage institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum, The British Museum, Kew Gardens, Buckingham Palace and The Royal Opera House.

Fittingly for their coronation scarves no less than three esteemed institutions commissioned Rory, namely Westminster Abbey, Highgrove and The National Portrait Gallery.

Rory Hutton X Westminster Abbey

Designed exclusively for Westminster Abbey, the official King Charles III Coronation scarf commemorates the first coronation to take place at the Abbey in 70 years.

This classic silk scarf takes inspiration from the oak leaves and birds represented on the coronation chair, the Abbey’s medieval tiles and the heraldic animals and plants which symbolise the four nations that make up the United Kingdom.

Created from Rory’s signature linocut illustrations, this intricate medieval inspired design is resplendent in a vintage style colour palette of red, white and blue. The borders are emblazoned with the names of the King and Queen as well as the coronation date. The 90x90cm scarf retails at £120.

Rory Hutton X Highgrove

Exclusively available at Highgrove this scarf celebrates the Coronation of His Majesty The King Charles III and Her Majesty The Queen Consort by drawing inspiration from the gardens at Highgrove, including motifs such as delphiniums, ferns, and elegantly clipped topiaries.

These emblematic Highgrove features are intertwined with HM The King and HM The Queen Consort's insignias, and dates of the Coronation, along with a border of oak leaves and acorns, evoke a sense of grandeur and festivity, making it the perfect keepsake to commemorate the Coronation. Set against a rich, patriotic colour palette, this 90x90cm scarf is complete with rolled-edges crafted entirely from silk. The 90x90cm scarf retails for £95.
Rory Hutton X National Portrait Gallery

To commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III on 6 May 2023, this silk scarf in a black and neutral colourway has been designed exclusively for the National Portrait Gallery by Rory Hutton.
Inspired by British monarchs, the design features a 'family tree' consisting of British monarchs throughout history all of whom are featured sitters in the National Portrait Gallery Collection. Featuring a central emblem marking King Charles III, with the dates of the Coronation. The 90x90cm silk scarf retails at £125.
