“As we embark on a new year, January is often a moment for reflection, resolutions and planning. Looking ahead to 2023 trends - and in line with our recent Comfortcore trend prediction - we’re not suprised to see that according to Pinterest Predicts, 2023 will be all about home spa style showers, mushroom mania decor and fur babies remaining a key part of the family, with home and accessories bought specifically with pets in mind. Whether you’re planning a DIY home makeover, room renovation or welcoming a new member of the family in 2023, there’s a trend to cater for every household.” - Wayfair’s Resident Style Advisor, Nadia McCowan Hill

- Hipstoric Home - “Combining vintage with contemporary styles can create a lived in and loved timeless aesthetic. A maximalist dream, modern pieces can give antique finds a new lease of life. Described by Pinterest Predicts as ‘soulful spaces that merge self-expression and historical nostalgia’, what’s not to love about this eclectic trend? It’s certainly a personal favourite of mine and can be seen in my own home. From a pair of quirky bookends and houseplant pots to refresh a well-worn bookcase, to statement wallpaper that will provide a revitalised backdrop for vintage basins, sofas, sideboards and more.”
- Home front - “A popular way to boost a property’s kerb appeal, front door makeovers are set to get spotlight treatment. Changing up the look of the front of your home is an impactful way to welcome you through the door, offering the chance to get creative and put your own stamp on what can often be a blank space. For celebratory occasions and events throughout the year, a seasonal wreath is one of the quickest ways to give a front door a face lift.”
- Rainscapes - “A simple addition to make your home more efficient, if you have outdoor space, is to invest in a rain barrel or water butt. They can help you to save water and reduce your energy bills and according to Pinterest Predicts, Boomers and Gen X will be investing in rain harvesting. There are a number of shapes and designs, from compact ones for smaller gardens to large-scale heavy duty barrels to maximise water-saving.
- Chance of showers - “A thoughtfully-styled bathroom can be a huge mood-lifter, creating a welcome escape from the strains and stresses of everyday life. A walk-in shower will not only provide a welcome space for spa-like pampering, but as the Pinterest Predicts 2023 report highlights, they help to make the most of floorspace. For some smart storage, a ladder shelf is lightweight and portable, the perfect place to hang your towels and robe.”
- Mush-rooms - “Mushroom mania has arrived! This trend was a stand-out feature at a number of design shows, including September’s Maison&Objet, with everything from mushroom shaped lighting, curved accessories to playful mushroom prints. Add a touch of magic and nostalgia to a children’s room or nursery with bold red and white prints, a shade that works well with terracotta, mustard and ochre.”
- Pool Pawties - “After the past few years, any excuse to get together with loved ones is welcomed and this fun trend prediction is one for the pawrents! An essential element of the pool pawtie? A doggy paddling pool! When the sun’s out in warmer months, they serve a practical purpose to keep pups cool, plus most designs can be easily folded up and down when not in use.”
- Fringe with benefits - “As we have seen before, undoubtedly this fashion trend will spill over into interiors. A low-lift way to incorporate the fringed effect at home is by introducing cushions, throws, a rug or lampshades with this detail. Perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, or even your home office.”
