This Christmas the stars are aligning for a Celestial feel to your seasonal celebrations.

Featuring heavenly motifs such as moons and stars, the Celestial trend will bring the magic of the night sky to your Winter hideaway.

An illuminated star in a window is a Scandi staple. This Christmas sees the star motif taken to new heights, and, as well as in windows, expect to see stars shining over dining tables, kitchen cabinets - and even given away as keepsakes.

Celestial Windows

The Scandi concept of Hygge is about sharing good company, a cosy glow and a warm sense of well-being. A well thought out window display will extend this feeling to passers-by and bring together indoor and outdoor spaces.

Andy Jupp, co-founder of Derbyshire-based lighting company Paper Starlights says ‘A window is the point at which inside and outside spaces meet – and you can use a window display to extend your celebrations into the outside world.’

‘Use the full extent of your window’, advises Andy, ‘and don’t forget to include the upper half of your window cavity to create a balanced display.’

A light source will come into its own as the winter light fades and illuminated star lanterns suspended from hooks or curtain rail will fill the upper part of your window space with a magical glow.

Paper Starlights lanterns are hand-cut with complex perforations which create atmospheric lighting effects. And materials are specially chosen for luminescence to diffuse the light in a warm 3-dimensional glow.

Pair a neutral tone with warm white LED lights to create a sense of seasonal wellbeing whichever side of the window you’re on.

Celestial Tablescapes

Food is often at the forefront of seasonal festivities – yet the dining table is frequently overlooked when it comes to décor. Table décor is often temporary and disposable – and unceremoniously swept away with the leftovers.

A display of paper stars suspended over a table will extend a Celestial theme to mealtimes. Arrange individual stars in a cluster at different heights for an animated 3-dimensional effect, and combine with warm white fairy lights to create a cosy Scandi-themed hanging mobile.

‘We love the idea of creating an area where guests can get together. And what better place to do this than the dining table?’ says Andy ‘A feature displayed above the table will animate the space and create a warm and welcoming setting for a show-stopping seasonal dinner’.

And as the universe is multicoloured, there’s no reason to stop at neutral! Be bold with your choice of colour and pair your Celestial display with well-chosen items on your tabletop. Repurposed baubles in bright colours can live again as part of your festive tablescape!
