Welcome to NINA D
I was born in Sweden and grew up with wonderful family traditions, especially from my Mother who delightfully set the table for celebrations and insisted we enjoyed everyday mealtimes together as a family. Rituals I recognised in England when I moved here twentyfive years ago to study in London and also the spark behind my homeware business.
From Art to Tableware
Each design is meticulously hand illustrated and inspired by a place or a person close to my heart back home in Sweden. During my Set & Costume design degree, I made the decision to always create my art by hand using watercolour and carefully selected paper. I have not once tweaked my artwork with a computer, instead I create depth by layering to produce a striking two dimensional effect.
A Scandinavian setting
My homeware range captures the essence of Scandinavian tradition where dining is cherished and a time to re-connect with loved ones. A time to listen, share stories and make memories.
Inspiration: Ekotemplet
The Haga Echo Temple was built in 1790 as a summer dining room for King Gustav III who loved to dine outdoors. It is situated in Hagaparken just north of Stockholm. The oval temple has the expected focal point accoustics which helped the King and his guests converse across the large oval table. Here I spent my childhood free time playing and exploring the temple in the park, a short stroll from my family home.
Placemats and coasters are handmade in UK using sustainably sourced materials. Euqalyptus wood, cork back with a high gloss melamine finish that is heat and scratch resistant. Serving trays are handmade in Sweden using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified birch wood. The linen napkins and table runners are handmade in Europe with 100% flax linen through a sustainable process. Pre washed, easy care linen in colours to accompany our designs.
