British home décor brand Paper Starlights has launched its new collection of sustainable Scandi-style Christmas decorations. Featuring clean lines and balanced geometry, the collection will elevate mood and bring harmony to any space.

The brand produces fairly traded décor, handmade in small batches from natural materials.  Favouring slow and thoughtful production over mass distribution, its approach is reflected in the sense of balance and well-being created by its products.

Sustainable Window Decorations
The Scandi concept of Hygge is about sharing good company, a cosy glow and a warm sense of well-being. A well thought out window display will extend this feeling to passers-by and bring together indoor and outdoor spaces.

These new Scandi-inspired lampshades are the perfect way to share the light with passers-by, and can be illuminated using warm white fairy lights or an LED light bulb.

'Use a light source which gives off a soft twinkle to fill the space with a touch of magic’, advises company co-founder Andy Jupp. ‘Our paper lampshades are hand cut with complex layering which creates atmospheric lighting effects. And our paper is specially chosen for luminescence which diffuses the light in a warm 3-dimensional glow. So, as well as getting a stunningly beautiful effect, you won't have to spend a fortune on Christmas lighting.'

Each flatpacked lampshade opens out to tie over a light source and can be re-used and stored away for Christmases yet to come. No throwaway here!
Sustainable Table Décor
Food is often at the forefront of seasonal festivities – yet the dining table is frequently overlooked when it comes to décor. Table décor is often temporary and disposable – and unceremoniously swept away with the leftovers.

These sustainable Scandi-style hanging decorations bring a hint of hygge to your home, and look fantastic displayed in a cluster at different heights over a dining table. Combine with warm white fairy lights to create a cosy Scandi-themed hanging mobile - and enjoy the contrast of light and shade created by the intricate layered design of these hand-cut decorations.

‘We love the idea of creating an area where guests can get together. And what better place to do this than the dining table?’ says Andy ‘A feature displayed above the table will animate the space and create a warm and welcoming setting for a show-stopping seasonal dinner’.

Handmade from FSC certified paper, these flat-packed paper lanterns come complete with cotton cord for opening and hanging - and can be taken down and re-used – time and time again!
Sustainable Keepsakes
Christmas is about creating memories and traditions to share.

These new mini snowflake decorations make the perfect keepsakes and are a great alternative to throwaway crackers. They look fantastic laid flat on a dining table, hung on a tree, or suspended from twigs – and can be presented to guests as a reminder of the occasion.

‘We’re seeing more people give keepsakes to their guests to treasure as the focus shifts from the throwaway to the functional’, says Andy. ‘Instead of Christmas crackers you could present special keepsakes to your guests – which they will take home and use themselves for Christmases to come’.

Handmade from FSC certified paper, these cute Scandi-style snowflakes are pleated and punched by hand to create an elegant filigree decoration to hang anywhere. Easy to hang and versatile, they come ready assembled, complete with cotton cord for hanging - and can be stored away and re-used.
