The past few months have truly reshaped our lives as we know them. We’ve spent more time at home than ever before, we’ve had highs and we’ve had lows, we’ve been together and we’ve been apart. Some days have flown by too fast whilst some have felt quiet and slow.
Balance has been a key factor in navigating our new normal, with the understanding that doing a lot or doing a little is perfectly acceptable. Sometimes, it can feel as though, with all this extra time at home, we need to be achieving far more than we did before. However, we must remember to always be kind to ourselves, now even more so than ever.
It is important to create a space in your home to which you can retreat to have to time to yourself to recharge.
Choose a spot with as much natural light as possible, add cushions, rugs and throws to soften the space and place lanterns, candles and fairy lights at varying levels around the room to create a sense of welcoming warmth.
If you have little ones to care for, you may find that the time you have to retreat is most often in the evenings, after bedtime. To make your space sparkle, hang curtain lights over windows and string warm white fairy lights overhead. Transforming a quiet space with lights will enable you to truly retreat and reflect.
